Stamford Hospital is seeking a full-time Mailroom Clerk.

The Mailroom Clerk will follow all Supply Chain policies and procedures demonstrating strong communication, organizational and customer service skills. Mailroom clerks must be detail oriented multitaskers who are able to stand, walk, drive, carry and deliver packages as necessary. Must be able to work independently where basic understanding or sensitivity may be required to effectively promote and maintain relationships and strong customer service across the organization.


  • Accurately sort incoming and interoffice mail and distribute to employees and departments. Also have ready all mail for off campus delivery. (This function is to be performed twice daily 9:30am – 11:00 am and 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm)
  • Pickup packages and outgoing mail and interoffice mail from departments and prepare packages and mail for shipment. (This function is to be performed twice daily 9:30am – 11:00 am and 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm)
  • Service mailrooms at Main Hospital, Tully, 1351 Washington Blvd. and 3001 Summer St. This requires the ability to walk or drive between locations
  • Maintain an adequate supply of shipping material, such as boxes, tape and labels etc.
  • Prepare packages and mail brought into the mailroom from off campus location for distribution and shipment.
  • At times, upon request, pick up and deliver mail from one department to another department within your site or off site as needed utilizing your own vehicle. Stamford will reimburse you based on mileage if an expense report is submitted.
  • Verify that mail is being picked up by their correct carriers. Example, FedEx packages is picked up by FedEx courier and UPS packages is picked up by UPS couriers and all USPS mail are sent to the post office
  • Ability to use basic office equipment, copiers, mail stamping machine fax etc.
  • Printing and copying services support/equipment maintenance
  • Obtain and complete user order requests for printing/copying needs
  • Deliver printing/copy orders
  • Log all deliveries as required
  • Other special projects and /or duties as assigned.

Collaborates with Supply Chain to ensure service levels are being met and are in accordance with the organizations policies and procedures.

Required Skills
Required Experience:
  • Basic mailroom experience 1-3 years
  • High School Diploma
  • Computer skills required such as MS Office Suite Software, Outlook. Must be able to create reports as needed, create documents as needed and complete tracking logs.
